Many beverages, biscuits and bank loans
have been called in to fuel the thriving
creative environment that is the 2014
Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Hundreds of performers with something to
say are ready now for audiences to listen
Live comedy is the very best way to see
the world through fresh eyes. You will find
thought-provoking surprises within this
program as well as the happiness only a
truly funny moment inspires.
Comedy! A renewable energy that just
keeps on giving. Irresistible.
There’s some serious funny business
going on in Melbourne, and the Victorian
Government is proud to be a part of it.
Each year, as Autumn embraces our city, so
do hundreds of the world’s best comedians,
closely followed by hundreds of thousands
of comedy lovers.
Comedy Festival time is a fantastic time to
be in the city to experience what has grown
to become one of Australia’s largest cultural
events. But this isn’t just an event that
makes an impact on Melbourne. The Festival
fun now reaches across the continent – and
the globe – through annual television
specials that attract more than 3.5 million
viewers, and through the annual roadshow
which plays to packed houses in more than
80 communities across Australia as well as
Singapore, Hong Kong and India.
Whether you see a festival favourite or a
first timer, it’s no joke that you’ll enjoy the
2014 Melbourne International Comedy
Festival and your time in Melbourne.
See you there!

Premier of Victoria

What do you get when you cross world
class comedy with Australia’s cultural
capital? The Melbourne International
Comedy Festival, a flagship event on the
international comedy calendar and one we
are rightly proud of.
The only problem with this Festival is
deciding what to see! From stand up to
free family events, theatre, music and more,
there is so much on offer. The Festival
is more than a month of great nights
out where thousands of artists gather to
create and present their work to more
than 600,000 people each year. It’s also
a key platform for emerging comedians
with programs such as Class Clowns, RAW
Comedy, Deadly Funny and Comedy Zone,
aimed at uncovering and fostering the next
generation of talent.
Arts Victoria is a proud supporter of
Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Congratulations to the whole team for
assembling yet another astonishing
program that will see a wealth of
performers take to the stages and will have
audiences rolling in the aisles.
The Hon Heidi Victoria MP
Minister for the Arts
the lorD Mayor

As the largest ticketed cultural event in
Australia, the festival attracts more than
600,000 people to city venues to have a
laugh at the comedic talent. My favourite is
always the free family outdoor program and
this year The (Very) Big Laugh Out will take
over City Square and Federation Square.
Another highlight is Deadly Funny with the
